What makes Magical Music different from other early childhood music programs?
Magical Music is dedicated to helping your child have fun making music while teaching basic musical skills!
- We play call-and-response musical games designed to help your child attain Basic Music Competency (BMC), the ability to sing in tune and play a steady beat.
- Singing in tune and keeping a beat are the building blocks to playing a musical instrument. Children who have BMC find learning to play an instrument easier.
- Magical Music believes that each child can attain BMC by participating in an enriching early childhood music program.
What can I expect from a Magical Music class?
- We sing children's songs collected from all around the world, which helps kids learn new songs and re-visit old favorites.
- We play a different instrument each week -- either egg shakers, rhythm sticks, bells, or wood blocks.
- We stand up and get moving to the music, with both follow-along movements and free dance with scarves, which helps to develop gross motor skills.
- We sing songs with finger plays, which helps to develop fine motor skills.
- We sing rhythmic chants, which further develops BMC.
- Kristin brings a puppet each week to engage the children in singing -- and giggling often follows!
- In smaller classes, children take an active part in suggesting what to sing about or what to do next, which helps each child's ideas to be heard.
- Kristin creates a fun and supportive musical atmosphere with her guitar and soothing voice!
